Looking for ESSENTIAL OUTDOOR GEAR for your mountain adventures?

El Cau: Hidden gem in the Costa Blanca

I know how difficult it can be to find the beautiful, natural and uncrowded places to visit in Spain. Many sites of interest are not signposted, and other times there are signs indicating something interesting to see, but when followed you end up at a dead-end road with prohibited access.

You can discover potential places to visit online, but the practical information can be limited, leaving you with no idea where to park, where you can enter the area on foot, where the paths lead, and whether the sights are worth visiting at all.

You may arrive at a location and come across a no entry sign, but does this apply only to just vehicles or to hikers too? Sometimes the hiking paths intentionally pass through gardens and farms, but other times you are actually just trespassing.

I am an explorer at heart, and I enjoy this process of trial and error.

Find out more about me and what kind of outdoor adventures I like here.

However, if you have limited time or ability, or want to visit the Costa Blanca and enjoy it´s outdoor adventures with friends or family, then these challenges can make for a difficult day out.

My mission

“My mission is to go and investigate the beautiful and natural places in the Costa Blanca, to provide you with all of the information that you need to go and explore them yourselves”

Why now?

All of the challenges mentioned above happened to me in summer 2024 when I became obsessed with finding natural cold water to swim in around the north of the Costa Blanca.

If you want to find the most beautiful rivers, lakes and waterfalls to swim in across Spain, then this is the book for you!

I´m a pretty determined person so I managed to find some general information on the internet while at home, but there was a lot that I had to figure out for myself when I arrived, such as exact locations and current conditions.

And so, it inspired me to start writing, not only to record my outdoor adventure experiences in the Costa Blanca, but to help out other people who want to do the same.

Mountain in the Costa Blanca

I investigate every path, road and abandoned building, on the off chance that there is something interesting to be seen or experienced.

Whether you visit an area in the Costa Blanca to hike, explore, go camping, have a picnic, see wild animals or watch the sunset…I can recommend the best spots and times of the day or year to do this, so that you can make the most of your outdoor adventures.

You can learn from my mistakes, so that you don´t have to get your car stuck on a mountain track, crawl through brambles overgrown on a ravine path, or climb over a wall to escape an unhikable forest because curiosity got the better of you!

For the Explorers

I write about my outdoor adventure experiences fully…the good, the bad and the ugly…so that you can choose where and what you want to explore.

There are some places in the Costa Blanca that I have visited, but with aspects not fully investigated, due to a lack of time or due to discovering their presence after leaving the area. I will share these with you too, so that you can check them out for yourselves.

TESTIMONIAL

"I had such a fun day at Pou Clar Ontinyent.
The water was very cool and inviting on a hot summers day. There are shallow areas which are easy to enter for a refreshing dip or swim. We also relaxed on the smooth rocks.
My favourite activity was climbing some higher rocks and jumping over the other side, where there was a waterfall and a deeper natural pool.
The day Jennifer organised was the perfect balance of adventure and relaxation amongst the beautiful landscapes and views. I'm looking forward to having more adventures with the @wildchildcostablanca"
